BP to join TANAP consortium “in near future”, regional head pledges

BP to join TANAP: BP will join the Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline (TANAP) consortium “in the near future,” its President for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey Gordon Birrell said on Friday. It is hoping to secure a 12% holding in the venture by the end of the year. The TANAP pipeline will eventually be used to transport as much as 31 bn m³ from Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz field to Europe via Turkey, although its initial capacity is expected to be in the region of 16bn m³. The final cost of cost of construction is likely to be between $10bn and $11bn. TREND
