Greece backs TAP pipeline: Greece’s new Energy Minister Panagiotis Lafazanis has confirmed his government’s support for the construction of the Trans Adriatic pipeline (TAP) across Greek territory, but wants to revisit terms. “We support the project and the fact that the pipeline will cross the territory of Greece, because it will contribute to the country’s energy security,” he said, but added that his government would be taking a long hard look at the economic returns on offer. The 870-km pipeline would link up with the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) at Kipoi on the Greek-Turkish border, run across Greece and Albania, under the Adriatic and onto Southern Italy. Deliveries to Europe are expected to begin in 2019. TREND
