Hungary considers Azerbaijan for new gas supply route as alternative to South Stream

Hungary considers Azerbaijan: Following Russia’s decision to indefinitely postpone construction of the South Stream gas pipeline, Hungary is now looking for an alternative source of gas.  One option being considered by Foreign Minister Peter Siyyarto is to look to Azerbaijan to supply the country with gas, although other alternatives are also being looked into. Russia announced it was halting work on the South Stream project last week because Bulgaria, under pressure from the EU, is currently baulking from permitting pipes to be laid on her territory. News.AZ
