IMF ready to offer Azerbaijan rescue package ‘without preconditions’

Although the country’s economy was being adversely affected by the collapse of oil prices, the government in Baku was taking the right steps to overcome the crisis, she said.
 “Azerbaijan demonstrates a true fiscal approach, reduces costs and is taking steps to restore its position. Lagarde made her remarks after last week’s visit to Azerbaijan by representatives of both the IMF and World Bank where they discussed a possible emergency loan package of $4bn to shore up the country’s economy.
