Iran questions TANAP’s economic viability

Iran questions TANAP:  A senior official at the National Iranian Gas Company is claiming that delivering gas to Europe from the Caspian Sea via the Trans-Anatolian natural gas pipeline project (TANAP) has no economic justification. According to  Azizollah Ramezani, the  company’s director for international affairs,  it would be safer and more practical to  transport the gas to Turkey by way of Iran. By 2026 TANAP  is expected to be able to deliver 32bn m³ of gas a year from Turkmenistan’s and Azerbaijan’s gas fields, including from the massive Shah Deniz II field in the Caspian Sea. TREND
