Ukraine-China rail link: Freight trains will start operating a regular service between Ukraine and China next month, the Ukrainian Minister of Infrastructure Andrey Pivovarsky said over the weekend. The trains will run through Georgia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, bypassing Russia.
“The final protocol resolving all technical problems is expected to be sealed in Baku on February 20,” he said after a 20-car container train successfully delivered its cargo from the Ukrainian port of Ilichivsk to Dostyk in China earlier this month, The journey took 12 days, and included ferry legs across the Black and Caspian Seas.
