Silk Wind rail project: An intergovernmental agreement on the future of the Silk Wind multimodal container block train project that will open up a direct trading route between China and Europe will probably be signed this autumn, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Transport Musa Panakhov told delegates at the Astana Economic Forum this week. The Silk Wind project provides for the development of the first high-speed train for container transport on the 4,1902 km route running through China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey and finally Europe.
