The owners of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) would in principle be willing to sell a stake to Iran in a post-sanctions world, its Head of Communications Lisa Givert said yesterday. While TAP was originally designed to transport gas from Azerbajan’s Caspian Sea fields to the markets of Europe via the Southern Gas Corridor, there is already the possibility that it may end up carrying gas from Turkmenistan as well and now, it seems, Iran. “In regards to any additional volumes that come on stream, TAP will comply with EU regulation and relevant sanctions,” Givert said. TAP is currently co-owned by BP (20%), SOCAR (20%), Statoil (20%), Fluxys (19%), Enagas (16%) and Axpo (5%) .
