Turkcell contemplates further Eurasian expansion

Turkish mobile phone operator Turkcell this week confirmed that it was considering buying out its partner TeliaSonera’s stake in their Fintur Eurasian joint venture. The statement of intent follows TeliaSonera’s announcement that it plans to exit the Eurasia region and focus on its European operations.
Turkcell has already taken steps to increase its Eurasian footprint, and in June  took full control of Ukraine mobile operator Life:).
Turkcell currently holds a 41.45% stake Fintur, which controls the  mobile operators Moldcell (Moldova), Azercell (Azerbaijan), Kcell (Kazakhstan) and Geocell (Georgia).
