Indians win contract to build $1.3bn Bangladesh LNG plant

Bangladesh LNG plant: India’s Reliance Power energy company has won the contract to build a $1.3bn  750 MW natural gas-based project in Bangladesh, it confirmed this week. The first phase is expected to take two years to construct and will be located approximately 40km southeast of Dhaka in Narayanganj District, with a floating storage and regasification terminal to follow on  Maheshkhali Island. The project would meet the country’s growing demand for electricity and energy security, a Reliance Power spokesperson said, and was one of the biggest FDI projects in Bangladesh to date.
