SPIEF #3: Putin calls on Asian powers to join greater Eurasian Partnership

Eurasian Partnership: Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to set up  an economic union spanning the EEU, China, India, Pakistan, Iran and the CIS, he told the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) last Friday. The idea of the so-called Eurasian Partnership  was originally aired at a meeting of EEU heads in Astana last month will be revisited at the East Economic Forum in Vladivostok in September.   
“We believe that the EEU  could become one of the drivers  for the formation of a broader integration path,” he said
Putin also again raised the idea of  creating  a single energy market between the EEU and China.
