Russian-EU trade down as Switzerland pushes its way into top three

Russian-EU trade: The volume of trade flowing from Russia to  the EU dropped down to 6% of the incoming total  last year, according to figures released by Eurostat  this week, pushing Russia out of the bloc’s top three trading partners. It nowlags behind the US ( $702bn and 18%), China ($591bn and 15%) and Switzerland ($238bn and 6%). The EU remains Russia’s main trade partner for goods and services flowing in the opposite direction.
The revelation is the latest in a series of blows for Moscow this year, which saw trade with China and Turkey also drop in 2015 by 35% and 24% respectively.
