Date set for start of work on TAP

A ceremony to kick off work on the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) is to take place in  the northern Greek city of Thessaloniki on May 17, the country’s  Energy and Environment Minister Panos Skurletis told a press conference this week. “The ceremony [to mark the] beginning of construction of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline will be held …..with the participation of well-known politicians in recognition of the fact that this is an important project that will create a lot of jobs,” he said. Once finished, the 880km pipeline will  have an initial annual capacity to transport of 10bcm of natural gas from Azerbaijan’s  Shah Deniz field in the Caspian Sea.
