Iran in negotiations over $4.5bn undersea Gujarati gas pipeline

Gujarati gas pipeline: The National Iranian Gas Export Co (NIGEC) is in negotiations with the Delhi-based South Asia Gas Enterprise (SAGE) over the possibility of constructing a $4.5bn gas pipeline from the its coast on the Gulf of Oman along the bed of the Indian Ocean to Gujarat. The pipeline would provide an alternative route to the 1,036-km Iran-Pakistan-India that has been aborted after India pulled out of talks.
“Negotiations are under serious consideration” NIGEC Managing Director Alireza Kameli told the World Energy Policy Summit in Delhi last week. The pipeline would carry 31.5 million standard cubic meters gas per day and would take two years to build, he said.
