Jakarta-Bandung rail link: The Indonesian government’s decision to award a consortium led by China International Railway to build the country’s  first ever high-speed rail link is set to trigger a national building boom, with the state-owned Wijaya Karya  (Wika) announcing this week  that it is looking to secure new contracts worth around $3.65bn in the current year, more than double what it achieved in  2015.
The increase is largely due to the $1.23bn in new orders it expects to win from the high-speed 150km Jakarta-Bandung railway project that is to be built by the consortium that also includes  Wika itself, Pilar Sinergi BUMN Indonesia, Kereta Api, and Jasa Marga.
Wika is looking to win around  further $1bn of  contracts from a combination of  toll road, power plant  and oil and gas projects, a company spokesman said this week.
