Iran and Italy have signed multi-billion dollar contracts covering various sectors including health, transportation, agriculture and energy. The contracts, which are worth an estimated $18.4bn, were signed in a ceremony attended by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his Italian counterpart Sergio Mattarella in Rome on Monday night.
Among the deals believed to be on the table are contracts for Saipem ($4-5bn), Danieli ($6.1bn) and Condotte d’Acqua ($3.4bn). The Iranian president arrived in Italy on Monday at the beginning of a four-day visit which will also take him to the Vatican and Paris.
