Astana downgrades Kazakh GDP growth forecast to 0.5%

Kazakh GDP: Kazakhstan has  lowered  its GDP growth forecast from 2.1% to 0.5% and is looking to China for the investment it needs to avoid slipping into recession, the Economy Minister Erbolat Dosayev said this week. The forecast is based on oil prices stabilising at $30 a barrel and, according to analyst and Ulagat Business Consulting Group director Marat Kairlenov,  is “attainable”, but will rely on investment from the country’s sovereign wealth fund and from China.
