FDI in Kazakhstan hits $215bn as Astana thanks investors

FDI in Kazakhstan reached $215bn in the twelve months to July 2015, its  Ministry of Investment and Development said yesterday as the government in Astana gets ready to cut through the red tape potential  investors face by introducing its ‘single window’ investment process.
Yesterday, the Ministry hosted its annual awards ceremony to thank the  overseas companies that have been most actively investing in Kazakhstan over the past year. The recipients were: 

  • Tikkurila (Finland): Paint production
  • Toyota Tsusho Corporation (Japan): Agricultural machinery 
  • Anadolu Beverage Group/Coca-Cola Icecek (Turkey): Soft drinks
  • BTM Group (Turkey): Waterproof roofing materials
  • Abdi Ibrahim (Turkey): Pharmaceuticals
  • Rio Tinto Mining and Exploration Ltd (Anglo Australian): Copper exploration 
  • Halliburton International (US): Barite concentrate production
  • Danone  (France): Dairy production 
  •  Lotte Group (South Korea): construction of a confectionary plant 
  •  Daedong Industrial Co (South Korea): Tractor production
