Astana-New City lines up six new projects for 2015

Astana-New City,  the special economic zone that was set up in the  Kazakhstan capital 14 years ago with a mandate to attract and then manage investment in new housing, commercial, retail, industrial and infrastructure projects is to play host to six new projects this year with a combined value of KZT 20bn. The projects in question are a diesel engine production plant; a fast food complex; temporary storage warehouses ; a business centre; a furniture factory; and a facility for the production of  military and civil engineering machinery, according to Astana’s official website. Astana-New City is one of 10 special economic zones in Kazakhstan, the others beingthe National industrial petrochemical industrial park; Aktau Seaport; the Innovative Technologies Park at Medue; the Ontustyk textile industry SEZ in Sairam, the Burabai tourism SEZ in Akmola; the Saryarka metallurgy and metalworking SEZ at Karaganda; the Khorgos-East Gate Indusrial logistics hub SEZ, set up to develop trade and logistics in Almaty, the chemical and petrochemical SEZ at Pavlodar; and the Taraz Chemical Park at Zhambyl.  Times of Central Asia
