Kazakh land privatisation was “a very acute and important” issue, President Nursultan Nazarbayev yesterday told the parliament in Astana yesterday. “We need to start the privatization of agricultural land,” he said, “….. [but] only those who are able to work, have expertise, experience, money and machinery and will make use of land should be allowed to own it. We should not give land to anybody.
“This privatization should be absolutely transparent, to ensure that land is owned only by those who are really able to work on it. Each meter of land should be used rationally, in accordance with market conditions. The state should constantly monitor it,” he added.
