Toshiba in talks to supply Kazakhstan with nuclear reactor

Toshiba is currently in talks with Kazatomprom over the possibility of supplying Kazakhstan’s state-run nuclear power organisation with a nuclear reactor for a new power plant. In a move that would pave the way for the Japanese company to export a nuclear reactor to a nation of the former-Soviet bloc for the very first time, the two organisations are said to have held talks late last year during which they reached an agreement for the supply of an AP-1000 advanced pressurized light water reactor produced by US subsidiary Westinghouse Electric Co.
