US investment in Kazakhstan doubles as privatisation programme gets under way

US investment in Kazakhstan hit $2.3bn the first half of 2014 – 100% up on the same period last year, according to the Central Asian state’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Most of the FDI went into the oil, gas, and mining sectors as well as into real estate,  business services and the  financial sector. During a visit to Washington earlier this month, Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Erlan Idrissov urged members of theUS-Kazakhstan Business Association and to take advantage of the country’s privatisation programme that will see more than 650 state-owned facilities being sold off.  Tengrinews
