World Student Games 2017: Building the sports facilities and providing the infrastructure required to host the Universiade-2017 World Student games in Almatay is likely to cost Kazakhstan an estimated $763m. The costs cover the construction of two ice arenas, an athletes’ village as well as related utilities. The games are expected to attract 3,500 students from around the world who will participate in a range of winter sports including alpine skiing, biathlon, figure skating, snowboarding, ice hockey, short track speed skating and curling.
