Gazprom buys Kyrgygaz: Putin has signed a deal to buy Kyrgyzstan’s debt-ridden natural gas monopoly Kyrgyzgaz for $1. Under the terms of the agreement, Gazprom has committed to investing over $600m to modernize the company’s infrastructure in return for control over its pipelines, gas distribution stations and underground storage facilities. For its part, Kyrgyzstan will secure a guaranteed supply of natural gas and the right to buy the assets back in 25 years. The Moscow News
