Gazprom to run Kyrgyz gas distribution network: The government of Kyrgyzstan this week announced that it was handing responsibility for national gas distribution to Gazprom, Russia’s state owned gas giant. Gazprom bought a controlling stake in Kyrgyzstan’s natural gas company Kyrgyzgaz last spring, pledging to invest around $290 million in the country’s gas infrastructure development. Under the terms of the arrangement that runs until 2030, Gazprom is to install gas supply services to 411 towns and villages across the country. ITAR-TASS
