Russia and Algeria have signed a contract for the sale of 14 Russian-made Sukhoi fighter jets, Rostec CEO Sergei Chemezov announced last week. The deal was actually signed in the spring, he told journalists at the 2015 Russian Arms Expo in Nizhny Tagil, and the jets are expected to be ready within the next two years.
Although no price has been confirmed for the latest contract, the cost of producing a single Su-30MKI fighter is said to be around $30m.
Algeria is one of Russia’s biggest defence customers and its air force already has 44 Su-30MKI fighter jets in its fleet.
