Amway pulls out of Crimea in wake of new sanctions

Amway, the US-based producer of personal care products, household chemicals, cosmetics, and dietary supplements, is pulling out of Crimea and is cancelling all orders placed with any of its clients registered on the peninsula. In a letter distributed to its former partners, it  explains that the decision is a direct result of the new sanctions imposed by the US last month. “We are fully aware that these restrictions will lead to major changes in your business.” it writes. “However, as a law-abiding company, Amway must ensure full compliance with legislation.” It follows in the footsteps of  both Visa and Mastercard who ceased operations in Crimea on December 26.
