Ankara plays hardball with Moscow over Turkish Stream

Turkey is not prepared to be treated as a gas transit country for Russia’s Turkish Stream project, its Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz said over the weekend. “Moscow sees us only as a transit country. For us, this makes no sense. We are interested in establishing a joint supply chain.” This had been agreed in principle, but Russia had gone back on its word, he claimed, arguing that the new project had to serve both countries’ interests.
