eBay has become the first American internet company to agree to store the personal data its Russian customers on servers located within its borders, according to Kommersant. The newspaper is reporting that the online auction house’s Russian representative met with ICT watchdog Roskomnadzora’s Deputy Antonina Priezzheva last Friday where a representative of its PayPal subsidiary was also present. An unnamed source is claiming that the online store has already started to migrate servers from Switzerland to Russia in preparation for new legislation that comes into force on September 1 banning the overseas storage of personal information about Russian citizen.
