EU ministers agree to extend sanctions – and maybe expand them

EU ministers agree to extend sanctions: EU foreign ministers  today (January 29th) voted to extend the existing raft of sanctions against Russia and to prepare  a new list of names of individuals and businesses that could be subject to asset freezes and travel bans. That list and further action will be discussed at their next meeting in a fortnight on February 12.
The ministers held firm despite indications from the new government in Athens that it wanted to dilute the impact of the new sanctions that were being proposed in protest at continuing violence in Ukraine. RTE, FT.com
