EU Third Energy Package triggers Gazprom foreign assets sale

Gazprom foreign assets sale: Stipulations within the EU Third Energy Package, that gas suppliers can no longer also own the infrastructure required to transport it, is forcing Gazprom to look at the disposal of some of its  major  overseas shareholdings, according to a report from Gazprom Germania yesterday.
Although it declined to elaborate, it is almost certainly referring to its stakes in companies such Estonia’s Eesti Gas, Latvia’s and Latvijas Gaze. Last year, Gazprom sold its 37% stake in Lithuania’s Lietuvos Dujos  and a similar stake in Estonia’s Vorguteenus Valdus. It also approved the sale of its 25% stake in Finland’s Gasum Ou.
