EU widens sanction: The European Union has agreed a new list of Russian officials and Ukrainian militants that are to be subject to sanctions, but has decided to postpone enforcing them until after the peace talks that are due to take place in Minsk on Wednesday, France’s Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said today. Five further Russian citizens, 14 members of the eastern Ukrainian militia and nine organisations that the EU considers responsible for the escalation of violence in Ukraine are said to be on the new black list. “The principle of these sanctions remains but the implementation will depend on results on the ground. We will see by [next] Monday how the meeting in Minsk went,” Fabius said. RT
