ExxonMobil in multi-million dollar tax claim: ExxonMobil President Ray Tillerson left Moscow yesterday empty-handed having failed to persuade the Russian government to return what the US oil giant is claiming is $500bn of overpaid taxes relating to the Sakhalin-1 project off Russia’s Pacific coast giant. According to Kommersant, ExxonMobil is now threatening to file a lawsuit with the Arbitration Institute of Stockholm. However, Tillerson and his representatives are said to have assured the Russian authorities that it is not about to stop work on other projects under way in the country and is ready to pursue other business opportunities in Russia in the future.
