Turku Science ParkSkolkovo Bio City: Russia’s Skolkovo Foundation has signed an agreement with Finland’s Turku Science Park to build a €200m biotechnology industrial park, research and start-up centre at its Innovation Centre outside Moscow.
The new 30,000m² BioCity will be modelled on the Finnish company’s ICT and life sciences incubator cluster in Turku 180km northwest of Helsinki, and is due to open at the end of 2018. “The [new centre] will radically change the biotechnology market in Russia,” a spokesperson for the Skolkovo Foundations said. “BioCity will become a source of world-class projects for Russia and a centr of unique competencies for Russian research organisations, innovative small businesses, and pharmaceutical companies”.
