Forbes Rich List loses 33 Russian billionaires

Forbes Rich List: 33 Russian billionaires have fallen off  this year’s ranking of the world’s richest people published by Forbes. According to the US magazine, the richest of Russia’s remaining 88 billionaires is Vladimir Potanin, owner of Interros, the  Russian conglomerate with interests in mining, metals, energy, finance, retail, real estate and several other sectors. Potanin, whose wealth is estimated at $14 .8bn, amassed much of his fortune through the  controversial loans-for-shares program.  In second place with $14.7bn is Alfa-Group’s owner Mikhail Fridman, who is currently in the news on account of his acquisition of 12 North Sea oil fields that is being contested by authorities in the UK. USM Holding’s Alisher Usmanov  comes in third with a fortune estimated at of $14.5bn dollars.
