Foreign media ownership law gets presidential sign-off

Foreign media ownership law:  President Vladimir Putin has signed off the law limiting foreign ownership in Russian media assets to 20% that is due to come into effect in February 2017. The law will force some of the world’s largest media companies — including Conde Nast, Hearst Corporation and Axel Springer — to sell off or shut down their Russian assets and will directly impact The Moscow Times which  is ultimately owned by Finland’s Sanoma.
