Foreign ownership of Russian media limited to 20%

Foreign ownership of Russian media: Russia’s parliament last week passed a law limiting foreign ownership of domestic media to 20%.  Supporters of the move claim that it will secure Russia’s “information sovereignty” while some analysts believe it will throttle investment in the sector, and it was described as a “step backwards” by Alexander Vinokurov, owner of independent television channel Dozhd, Internet portal Slon.ru and the Bolshoi Gorod magazine. The Moscow Times
