Mistral deal: France is reported to have signalled to Moscow that it is prepared to return Russia around €785m that it owes for refusing to deliver the two Mistral carrier warships in line with EU sanctions imposed following the annexation of Crimea. The offer is believed to be conditional on Moscow giving written permission for the resale of the vessels to a third party. Russia is expected to ask for € 1,163m to cover all its ‘costs and losses’ and to veto any re-sale until it has been repaid.
