Gazprom asks Qatar to invest in LNG projects: The Qatar Investment Authority and the Qatar Investment Fund have been asked to consider investing up to $14bn in two major Gazprom LNG projects due to be launched in 2018. The projects are the Baltic LNG plant in the Leningrad Region to be built near Ust-Luga seaport and which will have an anticipated annual capacity of 15m tons, and the Vladivostok LNG terminal with a comparable capacity to be supplied by the offshore fields by Sakhalin Island. The proposal was put to representatives from the Qatari investment funds during a two-day visit to Doha of Russian by government representatives last week. The Qatari side is studying the proposal.
