Increased mobility points to higher Russian transport costs

Russian transport costs: The increased mobility of the Russian population could lead to a doubling of passenger traffic and a fourfold increase in the cost of public transport by 2030, according to a strategic report published by Russian Railways. While the report identifies motor and air transport as the major threats to the railway’s future prosperity, it also suggests that the construction of a network of high speed lines such as the Moscow-Kazan link will increase passenger capacity by 6.5m in 15 years’ time.  rbc
