Internet copyright tax: The Russian Ministry of Culture last week published a draft law proposing the introduction of a so-called copyright tax on internet usage. Under the terms of the proposal, internet users would be granted a global licence giving them unlimited use of any content, including movies, music and books, for a monthly fee of RUB25 ($0.4) or an annual fee of RUB300 ($4.73). The collected money would be distributed among copyright holders. The bill allows for exemptions from the tax for certain groups including pensioners, the disabled and students.
