Medvedev moves to slash Russian housing bureaucracy

Russian housing bureaucracy: The number of administrative procedures that Russian housebuilders have to address before they can start work on site is to be reduced from 220 to 134, according to an order signed this week by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. It is hoped that the initiative will trigger a housebuilding boom and could reduce the period need to acquire state approval for housebuilding projects by as much as six months. The Moscow Times
