Mexico has acquired 30 Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft from Russia, its ambassador in Moscow Ruben Beltran Guerrero said late last week, as the two countries moved to strengthen their trade ties. “We see great prospects for cooperation with Russia in all areas,” he said, adding that his government had also invested “a large sum” in an engineering factory in the Russian city of Ulyanovsk on the Volga River about 900 km east of Moscow. “We are developing relations in the sector of food products, particularly in the production of corn flour in the Moscow region. The volume of trade with Russia is growing, we hope that it won’t stop here.”
Trade volumes between Mexico and Russia reached $1.7bn last year, up 17% in the past five years.
