Mi-8 Terminator helicopter
Mi-8 Terminator helicopters: Russia’s Ministry of Defence wants to order up to 100 specially modified Mi-8 Terminator helicopters for the newly formed Arctic Command, its Deputy Minister Yury Borisov told the TASS news agency today. The Arctic’s uniquely inhospitable conditions require all vehicles – and helicopters in particular – to be modified to operate in up to -50 degrees celsius, with strong winds and other extreme weather conditions. Exactly how many of these customised helicopters it ends up commissioning will depend on trials currently being carried out.
