Gazprom is planning to begin the commercial development of shale reserves in Western Siberia’s massive Bazhenov Formation by 2018, its CEO Alexei Miller today told shareholders at the company’s AGM today. Its Gazprom Neft subsidiary was testing technologies for the recovery of unconventional reserves, he said, particularly at the Bazehnov Formation where it is estimated to be more reserves than in the whole of North America.
