Moscow-Beijing high-speed rail link: The  $25 billion high-speed rail network linking Russia to China came one step closer to becoming a reality yesterday when Russian Railway President Vladimir Yakunin and Russia’s Transportation Minister Maxim Sokolov signed a memorandum of understanding with senior Chinese officials and politicians that paves the way for Chinese participation in the construction of the 800km Moscow-Kazan line. The total estimated cost of the Moscow-Kazan railway is upwards of $25 billion, with Chinese companies prepared to invest about $10 billion.
