Moscow Metro extension work suspended as import costs soar

Moscow Metro extension: A dramatic increase in the cost of imported building materials caused by the fall in the value of the rouble has brought work on the Moscow Metro’s new line to a standstill. The China Railway Construction Corporation and the China International Fund, who were  contracted to build the new line that will ultimately connect central Moscow to the new suburbs to the southwest of the city, have suspended work as the rouble’s devaluation (down almost 30% against the dollar since January) has sent the cost of the project soaring above its original $2bn budget.estimated.  The Moscow Times
