Netflix set to pioneer on-demand TV subscription model in Russia

Netflix, the massively successful American on-demand Internet streaming media platform, is gearing up to launch in Russia this month on Smart TV. “If Netflix is able to offer good content and a good service, Russian users could get used to the subscription model,” LG Electronics Smart TV Manager Vitaly Svistunov said this week.
Founded in 1997, Netflix is a subscription-based television and film rental program that provides content via online streaming. Last year, it opened new operations in Japan, Cuba, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Spain and Portugal and ended the with 69.2 million subscribers in over 40 countries.
