Northern Sea Route tackled by first oil tankers

Northern Sea Route

Northern Sea Route: Gazprom tankers carrying 16,000 tonnes of oil  destined for Europe have set off  from the Yamal Peninsula for the very  first time. The new route through the East Siberian Sea connecting the oil and gas fields of Arctic Russia to the markets of Europe is expected to slash three weeks of the conventional journey via the Mediterranean and the Suez Canal as well as the pirate-infested waters off the Horn of Africa.
