Now Russia bans Ukrainian trucks

Moscow has banned Ukrainian trucks from entering  Russia in retaliation for the blocking of Russian trucks in Ukraine, Russia’s transport ministry announced yesterday. “The measures will remain in place until a settlement of issues of illegal blocking of Russian auto vehicles on the Ukrainian territory by the Ukrainian side,” it said in a prepared statement.
The ban on trucks is bound to  heighten tensions  between the two countries that have been intensifying ever since the annexation of Crimea and Russia’s  continuing support for secessionist rebels in eastern Ukraine. Pro-Ukrainian activists started blocking trucks with Russian number plates earlier this month; according to Moscow, more than 100 trucks are blocked in Ukraine and more than 500 trucks are banned from entering Ukraine from the European Union on their way back to Russia.
